This is a part time, benefit eligible position working 40 hours per fourteen day pay period.

The Registered Nurse is responsible to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients. The Registered Nurse demonstrates competency in nursing practice as outlined in the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. The Registered Nurse must be trained to provide care for patients of all ages with additional education focusing on treatment and care of patients in their primary department.
Previous nursing experience is preferred.

Essential Duties:
Provider
1. Utilizes the nursing process to assess and prioritize patient needs.
2. Formulates, implements and evaluates the patient's plan of care. Adjusts plan of care in consultation with the RN Team Coordinator as appropriate and implements plan.
3. Uses basic communication skills to provide care to assigned patients/families. Relays pertinent information through appropriate documentation and referral to other health care team members such as medicine, dietary and support staff. Initiates discharge planning working in collaboration with the Case Manager as appropriate.
4. Initiates appropriate nursing action in crisis or emergency situations.
5. Carries out physician orders.
6. Provides continuity of care to meet the patient's changing needs.
7. Records information on the patient record in accordance with charting guidelines.
8. Utilizes time management principles and techniques.
9. Recognizes changes in patient status based on interpretation of assessments.
10. Recognizes examples of use of evidence/research based practice-at performance appraisal presents journal article supporting a specific approach to a nursing care problem.
Teacher
1. Uses available teaching aids to implement teaching plans of assigned patients and revises the plan based on evaluation of effectiveness.
Advocate
1. Maintains patient confidentiality.
2. Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient environment.
3. Respects the rights of patients and significant others.
4. Responsible for reporting and/or correcting potential patient safety conditions or practices.
Professional/Leader
1. Demonstrates knowledge about the ethical, legal, professional values of nursing, guided by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
2. Demonstrates positive communication/problem solving skills.
3. Assists RN Team Coordinator with coordination of patient care and appropriate utilization of services through use of clinical pathways.
4. Utilizes time management principles and techniques.
5. Effectively delegates to all levels of staff in collaboration with RN Team Coordinator based on their scope of practice, job descriptions, abilities and patient/unit needs.
6. Works to maintain positive team relationships with co-workers, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
Qualifications
Education:
1. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing (AD, Diploma, Baccalaureate).
Licensure/Certification:
1. Current Nebraska Registered Nurse license.
Experience/Pre-Requisites:
1. Entry level nursing skills.
2. Previous clinical experience desirable, but not essential.
3. Differentiated Practice advancement is encouraged.
4. Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the Healthcare Provider.
Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification preferred.
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification (ENPC) certification preferred.
Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
