PICU Travel Nurse

RNs in Pediatric ICU nursing jobs provide comprehensive services to children recovering from orthopedic, cardiac, neurologic, and general surgeries, as well as care for children with chronic illness, single or multi-organ failure, or patients undergoing organ transplants. Candidates for Pediatric ICU travel nurse jobs should have experience in technologically-advanced pediatric intensive care units (PICU) as well as both surgical and ICU units. Duties of Pediatric ICU nursing jobs include the prioritization and monitoring of patients with high-acuity conditions and the reporting of results to the pediatrician. PICU RNs also act as liaisons between the physicians and the patients’ families as well as other medical staff. Job Skills / Requirements:
- Valid BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association
- A valid professional license within the state of practice

Job Salary & Benefits:
The average PICU Registered Nurse salary is above the national average for RNs. The higher pay for PICU nurses is in part due to the advanced training and experience that is often required in this specialty. Additional certifications such as CCRN-P or CPEN can increase a Pediatric ICU RN's access to higher-paying positions. Pay, of course, varies with location, experience and medical facility. Traveling PICU nurses can further supplement their income with benefits like insurance, housing stipends, referral bonuses and licensure reimbursements.
