POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Director (MD) is responsible for providing clinical expertise and business direction in support of medical management programs to promote the deli! very of high quality, constituent responsive medical care. The MD is a critical medical and business leader and contact for external providers, plan sponsors, and regulatory agencies and participates in the strategic medical management of local markets.
Aetna, Inc. has an opening for an office based Medical Director in Omaha, Nebraska that reports directly to a Senior Medical Director. The position will support the multi-state care management program and the clinical product lines within the company as assigned for sales, network management and provider relations, plan sponsor and community activities. This person will be the clinical face of Aetna in markets within Mid-America region.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
Basic responsibilities include providing clinical expertise and business direction in support of medical management programs through participation in clinical team activities in the execution of precertification, concurrent review/discharge planning, appeals, case management, disease management, and quality management.
Basic background/experience includes 3-5 years experience in the health care delivery system e.g., clinical practic! e/direct patient care; experience in Utilization Management (UM), Case ! Management (CM), and Disease Management (DM); demonstrated appreciation of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards target populations.
The medical candidate must be an M.D. or D.O. from an accredited university. Must have completed a Residency Training Program in a recognized primary care or specialist (medical or surgical) specialty. Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics is preferred; will consider qualified applicants from other ABMS recognized medical specialties. Must have an active and current medical license without encumbrances. Nebraska license required.
