Serves as Program Director responsible for the overall coordination and integration of assigned ! nursing units. Provides administrative direction and supervision of assigned areas and programs to meet the hospitalâs mission of quality patient care. In collaboration with the medical staff and other health care professionals, develops short and long range plans and programs to provide quality patient care, introduces new technology, and provides an optimum learning environment for students.
Essential Duties:

Assures quality nursing practice through developing and monitoring performance standards.
Creates and maintains an environment that encourages personnel toward innovative, ! effective and efficient practices that enhance patient outcome! s.
Develops policies and procedures for the assigned areas in collaboration with professional staff.
Facilitates the formulation of budgets for assigned area, promoting optimum allocation and utilization of resources across the division to accomplish defined goals.
Collaborates with the medical chairperson of assigned division and/or other health professional colleagues to plan and implement new and enhanced programs.
Serves on and provides leadership to health care related work groups within and external to Saint Francis Medical Center.
Represents Saint Francis Medical Center in community, state and national, including serving on governing and regulatory bodies.
Responsible and accountable for full range of Human Resources management including interviewing, hiring, evaluation and disciplinary process.
Responsible for efficient and effective management of human and financial resources for clinical areas.
Serves as a consultant and resource to health care providers in the assigned areas regarding administrative, educational, research, clinical and ethical issues.
Collaborates with affiliated Schools of Nursing to create a positive learning environment.
Responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients to include appropriate staff competencies, as appropriate to assigned patient populations.
Participates in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assists in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.
Qualifications
Education:
MSN required. Will consider candidates who are working towards a MSN.
Licensure:
Current Nebraska license as a registered nurse is required.
Experience:
Three to five years experience in nursing in order to gain! full knowledge of patient organization and operation of a patient care! unit, and in-depth knowledge of patient care theories and practice.
Management experience preferred.
Knowledge of the growth and development needs of pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and the ability to adapt nursing cares to age and development level of patients ranging from infant to senescence, specific to the area supervised.
