The Home Medical Equipment Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner wo! rks under the general direction of the Director of Saint Elizabeth Performance Improvement and the immediate supervision of the Program Coordinator for SEHME. The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the provision of medical equipment to patients.

Essential Duties:
Assists physician and referral source in planning and arranging for equipment needs of the patient.
Provides home respiratory care services to infant, pediatric and adult patients.
Instructs patient! /caregiver in use and care of equipment provided.
Mai! ntains thorough and appropriate documentation in patient medical record. Audits documentation as directed by Supervisor.
Obtains all information necessary in order to file a clean claim with the payer.
Assists with marketing efforts for the Home Medical Equipment program. Maintains good rapport with physicians, referral sources, patients, families and associates. Liaison with Respiratory Care and Sleep Lab staff.
Conducts special programs and seminars for other staff members as well as referral sources.
Participates in In-Services and training sessions as appropriate.
Maintains and develops expertise through appropriate review of journals and attendance at programs.
Assists with surveys of the Home Medical Equipment program including JCAHO.
Aids other staff members in problem solving when appropriate.
Performs Supervisory duties as delegated by Program Coordinator.
May perform other duties not ! specified in this job description as assigned by the Director or the Program Coordinator.

Education:
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy
Experience:
Three years experience in a clinical Respiratory Care Provider position required.
One year of experience as a Respiratory Care Provider in a home medical equipment program preferred.
Must be able to comm! unicate effectively as this position requires constant contact with oth! ers
License/Certification:
Must currently be licensed for the practice of Respiratory Care in the State of Nebraska.
Registry in Respiratory Care from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.
Must have a current license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Nebraska and driving record must meet the qualifications established by the Medical Center.
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
