The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) serves as a liaison between the physician and! the patient. Serving the medical needs of patients with various health conditions in a professional, confidential and caring manner is of utmost importance. The CMA assumes the responsibilities and the performance of acts within the educational background of the CMA under the direction and supervision of a licensed health care provider (Physician, NP, PA, RN, LPN). A strong commitment to patient advocacy, the ability to interpret patients' responses and needs, and a thorough understanding of Embrace the Spirit's twelve standards of behavior are essential. .
Essential Duties:
Adapts communication style to each patient's ability to understand.
Recognizes and responds to verbal and non-verbal communication.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Collects basic subjective and objective data as directed by the licensed health care professional and records in the patient medical record. Reports data to the licensed health care provider.!
Reports abnormal findings to the physician, PA, NP, ! RN, and/or LPN.
Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices by use of telephone and computer as delegated by a licensed health care provider.
Returns authorized messages from physician as delegated and documents information provided in the patient chart.
Maintains patient flow in accordance with time of appointment or walk-in status in such a manner to avoid delays for the physician and undue waiting for patients.
Assists the physician with all examinations and procedures with predictable outcomes routinely provided in the clinic.
Perform clinic procedures as assigned within the scope of CMA training.
Demonstrates competency in tasks and skills required for this position.
Assists other providers within the clinic as needed.
Keeps the exam rooms clean, disinfected, and stocked with supplies needed for examinations.
Maint! ains efficient, organized, and clean work areas.
Monitors inventory of supplies and reports to Practice Manager.
Disposes of needles and other sharps in biohazard sharp containers according to procedures provided by the clinic.
Understands and follows orders and communicates results per physician direction.
Communicates with patients, families, and other professionals in a courteous manner.
Reports problems or potential problems to Practice Manager.
Maintains professional demeanor at all times.
Attends and participates in staff meetings.
Attends any educational seminars as requested.
Performs any other duties that may be assigned by physicians or Practice Manager.
Understands and demonstrates compliance with the twelve behavior standards of Embrace the Spirit.
Read and comply with the Network Policies and Procedures and Personnel Policies as stated.
Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Completion of Medical Assistant program.
Experience:
Previous clinic laboratory experience preferred.
Previous medical office experience preferred.
Able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and staff.
Accuracy and confidentiality in handling and processing lab specimens is critical.
Licensure/Certification:
Holds current certificate from American Association of Medical Assistants or equivalent.
Current CPR certification.
