Job Summary:
The Clinic LPN serves as professional liaison between the physician and the patient. Serving the medical needs of patients with various health conditions in a professional, confidential, and caring manner is of utmost importance. A strong commitment to patient advocacy, the ability to interpret patients' responses and needs, and a thorough understanding of Embrace the Spirit's twelve standards of behavior are essential. The practice of nursing by the Licensed Practical Nurse shall mean the assuming of responsibilities and the performance of acts within the educational background of the practical nurse under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse or another licensed health care professi! onal. This position reports directly to the Practice Manager. !

Essential Functions:
1.

Adapts communication style to each patient's ability to understand.

2.

Recognizes and responds to verbal and non-verbal communication.

3.

Collects subjective and objective data and contributes to the assessment of the patient and records data in the patient medical record and reports data to the licensed health care provider.

4.

Provides nursing interventions to stable patients with predictable outcomes as delegated by a licensed health care provider (MD, RN, NP, PA).

5.

Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices by use of telephone and computer as delegated by a licensed health care provider.

6.

Returns authorized messages from physician as delegated and documents information provided in the patient chart.

7.

Provides telephone triage to p! atients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices.

This may be done by use of telephone and/or computer.

8.

Maintains patient flow in accordance with time of appointment or walk-in status in order to avoid delays for the physician and undue waiting for patients.

9.

Assists the physician with all examinations and procedures with predictable outcomes routinely provided in the clinic.

10.

Keeps the exam rooms clean, disinfected and stocked with drapes and supplies needed for examinations.

11.

Maintains efficient, organized, and clean work areas.

12.

Schedules outpatient tests and procedures at hospitals by telephone.

Provides patient education for test(s) and explains preparation required for successful results to the patient and/or significant other.

13.

Provides patient education to all patients to insure the understanding of th! erapeutic interventions required for optimal results.

Monitors inventory of supplies and report to Practice Manager.

15.

Disposes of needles and other sharps in biohazard sharp containers according to procedures provided by the clinic.

16.

Understands and follows orders and communicates results per physician direction.

17.

Communicates with patients, families and other professionals in a courteous manner.

18.

Carries out interventions as directed by the physician.

19.

Observes all rules regarding managed care and other health insurance agreements for the benefit of the patient's insurance coverage, including obtaining referral forms when necessary.

20.

Performs clinic procedures within the scope of licensure.

21.

Reports problems or potential problems to the Practice Manager.

22.

Schedules patient appointments on computer.

23.

Assists other providers within the c! linic when necessary.

24.

Demonstrates competency in tasks and skills required for this position.

25.

Performs any other duties that may be assigned by physicians or Practice Manager.

26.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

27.

Maintains professional demeanor at all times.

28.

Attends and participates in staff meetings.

29.

Attends any educational seminars as requested.

30.

Read and comply with all policies and procedures and personnel policies as stated.

31.

Understands and demonstrates compliance with HIPAA regulations.

32.

Understands and demonstrates the twelve (12) behavior standards for "Embrace the Spirit".

33.

Understands and demonstrates the seven (7) "Standards of Conduct" as defined in "Our Values and Ethics at Work" reference guide.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Completion of LPN training.

Experience:
In the last three years, 1 year experience in a clinic or acute care setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
Licensed as an LPN in Nebraska.

Licensed as an RN in Nebraska.

On state registry as a CMA in Nebraska
