TEAM LEAD ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Hours: days weekends, some 3p-7ps weekdays

1. Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
2. Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functio! nal and technical job performance of team members.

3. Allocates and directs staffing needs to meet patient, unit/department and organizational needs and collaborates with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.

4. Manages performance including: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback, recognizing performance, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to work and our Commitments using corrective action.

FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Provides support, interacts, and serves as a clinical resource to patient care staff. Functions as a resource for policy and procedure interpretation. Utilizes age appropriate patient care interventions.

2. Identifies and responds to high risk/emergency situations to decrease risk exposure to patient, family members, staff, and organization. Follows approved procedure for notification of appropriate department! s and individuals involving risk management issues. Assumes administrative responsibilities as defined by policy Events for Notification or Consultation of Nursing Management (#000.004) in the absence of Administration.

3. Provides support in determining staffing needs. Allocates float pool resources to meet shift staffing needs. Collaborates with Operations Directors and patient care area staff in making assignments.

4. Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable JCAHO, federal, state and local agency laws, internal/external regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures and professional standards.

5. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in meetings, in-service programs, continuing education programs, and fulfills yearly requirements as stated by policy. Participates in achieving nursing division goals and supports shared governance structure.

QUA! LIFICATIONS:
Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of ! progressive experience in nursing with at least two (2) years in nursing leadership preferred.

Education/Licensure

Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing is required.
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in nursing, nursing/health care administration, or related field is preferred.
The incumbent must hold a Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so license must be held in state of residence.

¿ BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say ¿Professional Level-with AED¿, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
¿ ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following! : American Heart Association: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute: ACLS, American College of Surgeons: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician: ACLS
¿ PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification required within 6 months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute: PALS, Emergency Nurses Association: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), American Academy of Pediatrics: Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), and American Academy of Pediatrics/American College of Emergency Physicians: APLS.
¿ Crisis Prevention Intervention CPI required within 6 months of hire. After completion there is an annual renewal.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must possess strong clinical nursing skills to include: c! ritical thinking, time management, stress management, strong patient as! sessment skills, ability to start difficult IVs, working knowledge of patient equipment/devices, knowledge of high tech nursing procedures. Utilizes nursing process and problem solving skills. Demonstrates knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; excellent communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation, team orientation, professionalism, trust, and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
