Essential Functions/Competencies

Carry out CLINICAL duties according to standard operating procedures and scope of practice to include, but not limited to:
1. Performs and records initial patient screening.
Escorts patients to examination rooms.
Provides patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of disease, home treatments and special diets.
Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
Assists the physician with exams when necessary.
Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens.
Performs basic lab tests.
Performs specialty specific procedures.
Uses CPR skills when required.
Maintain clinic exam rooms.
Clean exam rooms after each patient in preparation for next patient.
Maintain supplies of otoscop! e tips, tongue blades, linens, etc.
Maintains other s! upplies and equipment.
Employs professional telephone and interpersonal communication techniques.
Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
Complies with performance improvement practices.

2. Establishes, organizes, scans, files and maintains medical records.
Orders and maintains appropriate levels of supplies and equipment.

Completion of a Medical Assistant Program required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support Certification required.
Current and valid Medical Assistant certification required within 18 months of hire.!
