The Clinical Respiratory Educator oversees and develops the orientation of Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Diagnostic and Sleep employees. Develops/updates departmental procedures for administrative review/approval. Implements and identifies evidence-based practice, education, training and competencies.
Develops, organizes and schedules orientation for new employees within noted clinical areas; assures appropriate preceptor assignment; monitors orientee progress regularly and provides feedback to manager, preceptor and orientee.
Insures completion of all orientation documentation and submits to Manager.
Develops and organizes initial and annual competency assessment programs to include equipment, processes and procedure changes; insures all competencies are appropriately documented.
Ensures evidence-based department procedures and develops new procedures consistent with current practice and standard care practices.
Provides educat! ion opportunities to meet continuing education requirements fo! r practitioners within the department.
Routinely assesses current clinical practice within the Medical Center and adjusts teaching tools appropriately; frequently evaluates new practices from outside the facility and compares and contrasts with current Medical Center practice.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Education or sciences required. Must be licensed to practice respiratory care in the State of Nebraska. Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist required. Prior experience educating adult learners preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required. Other credentials in the areas of Neonatal Pediatric Specialist, Advanced Critical Care Therapists, Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist, Registered Polysomnograph Techno! logist desired.
