Hours: Saturdasy and Sundays 8am to 8pm and two to three evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Formulates clinical decisions that demonstrate independent judgment and critical thinking to meet the nee! ds of patients through collaboration with internal and externa! l resources and providers, ensuring consistency with organizational standards and/or federal regulations.
a. Systematically collects comprehensive and focused data relating to the health needs and concerns of patient.
b. Works within prescribed protocols and guidelines.
c. Organizes priorities and coordinates elements of triage.
d. Demonstrates the ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis, urgent and emergency situations.
e. Enters data and maintains multiple data bases during triage scheduling. Utilizes office equipment and software, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), telephone systems, scheduling systems, paging and fax.
f. Conducts post call follow-up according to department and organizational policy and procedure.
g. Promotes team concept through interpersonal relationships and communication with patient/parent/guardian, various ancillary departments and providers in order to faci! litate the care.
h. Adapts to changes in patient volumes and completes work assignments while achieving departmental productivity and quality goals and standards.
i. Demonstrates respect for patient rights, privacy and serve as a patient advocate.
j. Demonstrates expertise with addressing patient concerns, recognition of pertinent clinical information, establishing priorities, and proper documentation following the Access Center policies and procedures.
k. Uses available organizational and departmental care systems and tools in order to assist with facilitation of various patient calls and nursing processes.
2. Demonstrates a professional attitude and approach with patients, families, and all others while ensuring confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

a. Provides patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, test(s), medication and follow-up.
b. Functions as a resource person for call center and clinic staff involving nursing issues.
c. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through part! icipation in clinic meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs.
d. Assists in orientation, training and support of new employees as requested.
e. Maintains knowledge of unit operations and processes. Identifies best practices activities to improve patient care and department processes.
f. Achieves department benchmarks for quality by ensuring accuracy of elements and standards for nursing documentation with every patient encounter.

5. Work as a! back up to the clinical team as scheduled.
a. Performs/direct patient care services including, but not limited to, admission interview, assessment, accurate documentation and timely patient flow.
b. Performs related functions:
Prepares rooms for daily patient care
Responsible for sterilization: restocks instruments
Cleans and resets rooms between patients
Orders medications and supplies
Performs phlebotomy, lab procedures and communicates results to the patient as ordered by the provider
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
Preferred: Three or more years of clinical nursing and triage experience in an ambulatory health care
setting. Pediatric and Family Practice experience preferred. One year of computer/keyboarding experience.
Preferred: One year of nurse triage experience in a call center environment preferred.
Office/clerical, experience in scheduling and electronic medical recor! ds (EMR) systems and insurance protocols knowledge.
Ability to speak Spanish a plus
Education and/or Licensure-Certification:
Required: Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact
states, so licensure is required in the state of residence.
BLS certification is required upon hire.
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:Knowledge of:
Professional nursing theory and practice, as well as standard practices rules and regulations related to nursing.

Type approximately 35 -50 words per minute.

Work closely with the providers responding appropriately and timely to provider(s) requests
