Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Description: Children's Hospital & Medical Center is at present recruited Clinical Scheduling RN - Access right now, this position will be placed in Nebraska. Provides clinical support to the scheduling department to ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate scheduling of patients. Trains new and existing ! employees on the clinical aspects of the departments supported by centralized scheduling and coordinates complex scheduling cases. Acts as a liaison with clinical areas to facilitate effective communication and expectations. Monitors scheduling to ensure accurate, complete and appropriate scheduling. Communicates with referring departments to ensure physician orders are carried out as expected. Accepts verbal orders.

Essential Functions/Competencies

Provides clinical support to the scheduling department to ensure accurate, timely and appropriate scheduling.

Answers questions regarding interpretation of orders

Works through the orders work queues, clarifying with clinical areas when needed, identifies duplicate orders

Acts as the primary advisor to scheduling team regarding when to reach out to families and/or

coordinate with clinics & physicians

Trains new and existing employees o! n the clinical aspects of the departments supported by central! ized scheduling

Accepts and transcribes orders received via phone as well as complicated orders

Clarifies orders and scheduling expectations with provider offices acting as the primary contact.

Assists with pre-service instructions and any questions the family might have regarding services being scheduled

Coordinates scheduling for complex cases that involve multiple service areas on the same visit

Takes calls as needed to help meet expected services levels

Facilitates quality monitoring of scheduling.

Proactively monitors schedules daily to ensure that services are scheduled appropriately, in correct order and with any coordination necessary.

Ensures that orders are linked and authorizations have been addressed; coordinates with schedulers and authorization department if something is missing.

Intervenes in situations where there is question about scheduled appointments, i.e., need! for clarification, coordination with clinics, training needs, duplication of orders/services, etc.

Addresses escalated calls or scheduling as needed

Assists in developing and maintaining effective quality monitoring system to be used to develop scheduling staff and ensure excellent customer service.

Acts as a liaison with the clinical areas and the scheduling and authorization teams to foster positive and effective working relationships.

Attends meetings with clinical departments to work through scheduling issues, changes, process improvement, training, etc.

Provides training and feedback to the scheduling team as appropriate.

Reaches out to clinical areas for education of providers, assistance with orders, process improvement, feedback, etc.

Works with the authorization staff as needed to work through issues and foster positive relationships.

Works with clinical departments and IT to work! out system scheduling issues, i.e., incorrect templates, visits types,! etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing required, equivalent work experience may substitute for education.

Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required, preferably in pediatrics

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Current and valid Nebraska RN license/RN Compact license required.

Basic Lif! e Support (BLS) certification required.
