This position contributes to the mission and vision of Alegent Health within the organization through assisting with planning, designing, implementing, execut! ing, and maintaining programs related to employee wellness. The Wellness Coordinator provides expertise, promotes engagement, and strives for measurable improvement in the health and wellbeing of Alegent Health employees.
ENVIRONMENT:
Alegent Health is a not-for-profit umbrella corporation providing governance, administrative management and direction to all operations of Bergan Mercy Health System (sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives) and Immanuel Medical Center (Immanuel Health Systems). These two health systems have consolidated operations while maintaining separate religious identities, financial assets and medical staffs.
Consolidated operations include five acute-care metropolitan hospitals located in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area; three rural hospitals located in Missouri Valley and Corning, Iowa and in Schuyler, Nebraska; one long-term care facility located in Omaha; one ambulatory service facility at Lakeside in Omaha; ! minority owner of community hospital in Blair; home care progr! ams serving the region; multiple metropolitan and rural health care clinics/offices; major programmatic initiatives in managed care, physical medicine and rehabilitation, behavioral health, senior services, cardiovascular services, orthopaedics, womens and childrens services, and oncology; and joint ventures with community partners in pediatrics and hospice.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position reports directly to the OL, HR Operations. This incumbent works collaboratively with staff members to achieve strategic project objectives and meet set timelines. This position will have frequent contact with management, employees, and other Human Resources staff.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work in partnership with the benefits team to manage a comprehensive worksite wellness program to help measurably improve the health of the employee and spouse populations and control health care costs.
Coordinate annual onsite health screenings.
Embrace! Alegents wellness mission and serve as a wellness role model to others
Work in partnership with the online health management application vendor to manage the employee wellness portal.
Develop, manage, and deliver wellness programs such as behavior modification, seminars, incentive programs, special events, etc.
Track all expenses related to the wellness initiative and provide status reports to management.
Coordinate and lead the onsite wellness committees and wellness champions.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of all existing wellness programming at Alegent Health in an effort to actively promote Alegent Health services and to consolidate programming under the wellness program umbrella.
Establish cross organizational collaboration and build relationships with all departments.
Effectively integrate with all internal and external providers of health-related services (ACO, TPA, Health Services, etc.).
Keep abreast of health, benefit and regulator! y trends and their impact on health and wellness programs.
Coordina! te with Corporate Communications and Benefits COE to develop wellness communications that tie directly to overall wellness strategy.
Provides recommendations and alternatives for complex escalations that have been presented to COE in order to provide expedient resolution to HRSC for requests related wellness
Assumes responsibility for the personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education programs. Fulfills yearly education requirements, as stated by policy.
Participate in all safety, security, and infection control programs that are mandatory, as well as those required by the department.
Demonstrate work practices consistent with Alegent Health and department-specific safety, security, and infection control policies.
Must have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE:
A minimum of fi! ve years of wellness programming experience in a medium to large organization (preferably in a health system environment) is preferred. A Bachelors Degree in Health Promotions or related field is required. A Masters degree is preferred. ACSM, CHES, NSCA or similar certification is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Solid exercise physiology and nutrition background with experience in developing and implementing worksite fitness/wellness programs to reduce health risk(s).
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and time management skills.
Ability to lead and participate in wellness activities such as Corporate Cycling Challenge, goup fitness classes, etc.
Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability effectively communicate to diverse audiences.
Solid team building, project management and implementation skills.
Basic understanding of health cost management strategies.
Ability to measure and evaluate wellness effort! s and effectiveness.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, P! ublisher, PowerPoint and Outlook.
