Description: Children's Hospital & Medical Center is at present recruited Child Care Specialist - Healing Environment right now, this occupation will be presented in Nebraska. Provides supervision and developmentally appropriate activities to siblings 3 - 14 years of age left in the care of Kidsâ! €™ Camp staff during families visit to the Specialty Pediatric Center and/or receiving other services at Children's Hospital & Medical Center. Kids’ Camp staff will also provide services to the patients when needed or requested by parents and/or Children’s Hospital & Medical staff.

Essential Functions/Competencies

Keeps concise records related to children in the care of Kids’ Camp staff.

Checks in children by name, parent/guardian and patient relationship, clinic/doctor.

Documents contact information and explains rules and guidelines of Kids’ Camp.

Communicates pertinent information about siblings and families to other health care professionals when needed.

Recommends consults/referrals to appropriate staff when family needs are beyond the role.

2. Plans, conducts, and evaluates activities for the Kids’ Camp to support developmental level, meet emotional nee! ds, and provide diversion.

Sets up and organizes acti! vity areas, provides input for all children in Kids Camp to promote use and provide comfort and security.

Matches interactions and activities to developmental level and emotional state of child.

Uses resources to accommodate cultural needs to bridge differences.

3. Gives direction and feedback to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center volunteers working in Kids’ Camp.

4. Maintains Kids’ Camp in a clean and orderly condition following guidelines set for area and ensures toys are cleaned.

5. Increases parents’ awareness of siblings’ psychosocial and coping needs when a sibling has chronic healthcare needs.

Represents and communicates Child Life Services to patients and families.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent interpers! onal and communication skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate with patients, families, and staff members.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in child growth and development or related field required.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, education or related field preferred.

Minimum 6 month’s experience working with hospitalized and/or healthy children in individual and group setting required.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, within 6 months of hire.
